Guide to Chest Running Hells Precipice
This thread was originally inspired by Teutonic Paladin
So far on this run I have had a better outcome than running Southern Shiverpeaks (maybe I don't know the spots to make money on the chests). I have regained my money back running Hells chests. Although I haven't got that 100k+ drop I have been hoping for yet. Rumored drops are perfect magmas shields, superior vigors (titan armors), Mursaat weapons, (I am unsure if these really drop, but its believable)
This build will most likely not be the best, but it will get the job partly done. Feel free to share your build and suggestions . Now onto the build.
Class: Warrior/Monk(mesmer possibly for ele resistance, but may cause problems with lower speed from just using "Charge!")
Attributes:
Healing Prayers: 8
Strength: 12
Tactics: 12
Skills:
Sprint
"Charge!"[e]
"I Will Survive!" (+3 regen for each condition)
Endure Pain (for those tight situations, a lot of those by the way)
Healing Breeze (extra regen to help counter the degen)
Purge Conditions (a lot of burning, I haven't used it much yet)
Mending (+3 regen, helps sooth the burns)
Healing Signet
Equipment:
Platemail or wyvern/dragon might work better in this situation (it comes down to energy vs armor). Gladiator armor with a piece of knights (or ascalon, for the damage reduction) worked for me.
For weapons I used a Totem Axe(+5 energy and 20% longer enchant for Healing Breeze) and Malinions Shield(+45 health / -2 damage while enchanted).
For runes I would advise Superior Vigor(I used major here) and Superior Absorption, a lot of damage and degen going on. I would strongly advise no health reducing runes way to much degen going on.
Keys to Success:
A lot of the enemy groups are patrols, Patience is virtue
Try to have mending and healing breeze on before entering groups, than activate "I Will Survive!" upon burning.
About where I am standing a chest almost always appears. And the patrol around that area will leave, just wait don't risk anything you will be spiked to death upon opening any chest.
Feel free to share your drop experiences with this!
No video in use as of yet, anyone can post one and ill put it up here.

I have a question: is chest farming Hells Precipice better than chest running say...Ember Light Camp? I've never tried finding chests in Hells, but running around outside Ember is a pretty easy way to open a lot of chests.
The real question is...do the same type of chests drop differently based on location? Are the chests in Hells more likely to drop good stuff than the chests outside Ember? If there is no difference, then I don't see the point of chest running in Hells, since ember is easier. If there is a difference, I'd love to hear about it.

I seem to get a lot of purple in Ember(never had a gold drop in ember but I haven't ran it much) and more gold in Hells(second key i used was a superior smiting rune), but thats my experience. Its upto you as to where to chest run. Although I Recommend you try it. I am guessing that since chests are open less there the chest open a little better.

Check the link provided in the link you put at top of the original post. Very effective builds to do this were posted months ago. I even added a video to do it with a Mo/R.
Tip: A wammo with no defense against enchant removal really isnt the way to go considering all the strip enchants from the ashens that occur on sight of an enchanted character

Mo/R that is, not all of us have those . Although the video would give a good guide onto the areas to run.

Nice guide.
Only problems with it is getting the Totem Axe (20-25K) screwed myself over on that becuase now they are cheaper..... grrrr
But hey, after getting that it was really cool. I wasn't sure about how it would work, but when your bored you might as well do something. I played around with it for about 1 hour, got it all setup right using Glads with the piece of Knights armor. Within 3 hours of farming the area two Sup Vigors dropped, I almost crapped my pants when I got the first one; getting the second was just overly amazing. Got some other random golds that sold from 5-10K each (stood in ascalon for about an hour but made about 60K from selling the golds) I'm keeping the Vigors for my own characters. I will probably be able to get some more so I'm not at all worried. But yeah, This was a good guide monty, and whats your in-game name so we can farm together alittle or just destroy random stuff, send me a Private Message.

I used to run Hell's about a month ago, but I gave up cause the rate of failure was too high and all I got was garbage runes and equipment like 1 mod magmas shields and no inherent mod gold weapons.
Gold zealous magmas arm of nothing (seriously nothing on it but zealous), gold magmas shield with +1 divine favor, and
gold fiery dragon sword of pruning (no inherent) come to mind.

Useless bragging FTL. Maybe instead of trying to show off, you should have posted a build, or not posted at all.

I used to run this a while back because the chests that spawn at the end around the portals were supposed to drop nice things like dead bows and sephis axes. I did get a high percentage of golds but none of them seemed that memorable.
I think I was running a w/mes build. Something with these core skills...its been so long...
charge
sprint
endure pain
I will Survive
Healing signet
elemental resistence
I don't remember the other skills and I think this core was what was most important. Basically, the e-resistence is what got me past nasty spots of those flaming fire imp guys. In particular the first bridge you come to after talking to the Lich for the first time. Put it up, make sure you have charge ready and go. Toss up i will survive, then endure pain, then sprint to the safe spot before using heal sig a few times to get yourself back in shape. After that the run is pretty easy. The Resistence is also nice in the end against the phantoms guarding the portals. It gives you that window to charge in and pop the chest before getting completely smoked.
